NBA R.I.P. ?

Well it looks like the NBA season is further & further away. After some intense negotiations , the NBA will be losing two weeks of the regular season. They have already canceled the pre-season games. This was not a surprise to me , as I see the urgency not there at all.

With so much money being poured into this league, what is the big problem? Well, let me break it down.

Although it doesn't seem much has changed the game. With pre-season games already out of the picture. It seems like we will really be out of a NBA season after all. With NBA owners & GM's not being able to come to an agreement with players, it looks like we can look forward to next year. Owners are wanting players to give up more but it's very clear that owners are dealing with their over spending problems that have caught up with them. Negotiations will continue in the next few weeks but is it enough to save the season?

It's no secret the system is very broken. It was only a matter of time when it came to jeopardizing the entire season. The big holdup is revenue sharing between players, owners, & everyone else wanting a piece of the pie. Negotiations are really about how to split the NBA's $4 billion in revenue. With also talks in how to have a better salary cap structure. NBA owners want more & so do the players. Everyone wants a piece of something without thinking about the costs.

The NBA claims to be losing $300 million a year. With also 22 of the 30 NBA teams also losing money every year. With both sides very far from a deal, this may be a long fight to the end.

They should all be looking on how to save the season without it going to long with canceling more games. The more games they cancel, more advertisers will split. The NBA makes good money with advertisers & this will only hurt the money pockets more. Advertisers spend an average of $807 million on NBA games. That's quite a bit of money to lose out on.

As an NBA fan myself, I am pretty sad to know that the season is in jeopardy. I don't want to think "well, there's always next year" but right now it seems like that will be the case.
