Mia Amber's Passing

I was really sad to hear of Mia Amber's passing. She really helped open the doors for plus-size models every where. Before Toccara & many others, there was Mia. Sadly she passed away at the age of 36 years old on May 12th. After an autopsy, it revealed that she passed away from a blood clot after a knee surgery. After her knee surgery she complained of dizziness & passed away 24 hours later. Why did the doctors not notice this during or after her surgery?

Mia was a model for many years & a producer as well for The Ricki Lake Show & Divorce Court. She was also an actress, which many may remember her as Rhonda on Road Trip. She was a motivational speaker, style consultant, entrepreneur, & a very well known plus size model. Her work included Creative Editor-at-Large for Plus Size Magazine, Jill Scott's Butterfly Bra, Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart, & Queen Latifah's Curvation Line. Mia had a huge impact on the fashion industry.

Her funeral has yet to have a set date. Meanwhile her body is being transported from Los Angeles to New York where she will be laid to rest. She is survived by her husband comedian Michael Yard & her mother Ida, plus a host of family & friends.
